Program Description
Geomatics is the science and technology of measuring, mapping, and managing geographic information. In this program you will learn surveying, global navigation satellite systems, geographic information systems, remote sensing, photogrammetry, mapping with CAD, and basic programming for spatial data. Coursework combines classroom theory with hands-on fieldwork and computer labs, so you practice real data collection and map creation.
Aims & Objectives
Develop accurate field surveying and GNSS measurement skills, demonstrated by completing field surveys and producing coordinate datasets.
Master GIS software workflows, shown by creating, analyzing, and presenting spatial datasets and maps.
Understand remote sensing and photogrammetry methods, measured by processing aerial or drone imagery into usable maps and models.
Create clear technical maps, reports, and documentation that meet industry standards for engineering and planning projects.
Why Choose This Program?
Strong job demand in infrastructure
Geomatics skills are needed for roads, buildings, utilities, mining, and telecom projects across Ghana, creating steady employment opportunities.
Hands-on learning and real projects
Students gain practical experience through field surveys, drone missions, and lab mapping, preparing you for immediate work or higher study.
Pathway to engineering and IT careers
The program builds maths, programming, and systems skills useful for civil, software, electrical engineering roles, and IT support in technical firms.
Industry connections and internships
Many programs partner with land agencies, construction companies, and mining firms that offer internships and practical placements.
